Listrak is a marketing automation platform with 20+ years of innovation, trusted by over 1,000 retailers and brands including SharkNinja, Godiva, and Elemis. It helps businesses streamline customer engagement across channels.
Neuron partnered with Listrak to resolve years of design debt and rethink the user experience. The result: a modern, intuitive interface built to support the marketing needs of businesses of all sizes.

STRATEGY
In-depth SPARK process
Neuron’s SPARK methodology (Strategy, Planning, Audit, Research, and Knowledge) uncovered core challenges and provided a clear framework for understanding user needs, auditing features, analyzing 15 competitors, and identifying high-impact design opportunities.
Through 13 interviews with customers and internal users, paired with Listrak’s secondary research, we built a focused design roadmap to guide the platform’s evolution.
The work revealed key use cases, recurring pain points, and critical gaps across Listrak’s broader user base, setting the stage for meaningful improvements.

Designing for competitive advantage
We analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, and patterns across 15+ competitor products to uncover market gaps and opportunities for Listrak to lead.
By the end of our engagement, Listrak had a robust set of new and refined features ready for launch—positioning them with a clear competitive advantage.

Simplifying navigation with smarter architecture
Listrak’s previous navigation had become cluttered and difficult to use as features piled up over time. Users struggled to find tools efficiently, prompting a complete overhaul of the information architecture.
As part of the redesign, we reduced 118 navigation items to 16. We removed outdated features and merged others by function and theme, resulting in a cleaner and more intuitive experience.

Reshaping marketing campaigns
To drive conversions and reduce email volume, we introduced a content-first system that lets users insert event-specific content into existing emails for a defined period. This removed the need for duplicate messages targeting the same goal and eased content management demands.
This led to a 50% reduction in the amount of emails to maintain.

Marketers often struggle with the complexity of managing outreach across multiple channels, juggling tools and duplicating effort.
To solve this, we helped Listrak consolidate all outreach into a single, unified creation flow. Now, users can build campaigns seamlessly across Email, SMS, MMS, web, and app push—all in one place.


Intuitive and powerful automation builder
Our Listrak redesign integrates the multichannel messaging solution directly into the automated journey builder.
This removes the need to duplicate workflows across channels, streamlining setup and ensuring a seamless customer experience. It also cuts the number of connections required to build each journey, making the process faster and simpler for marketers.

Delivering the right message at the right time
Personalizing outreach for each contact is key to boosting conversions and driving sales. Neuron developed an innovative segment builder that lets users create fully custom segments while understanding overlaps across outreach channels.
This enables automatic communication through each recipient’s preferred channel. Additionally, we designed a system that provides real-time actionable insights, empowering marketers to maximize their impact.


Fully customizable, no-code email builder
Many competing platforms rely on generic third-party tools that limit flexibility. Our research revealed similar frustrations with Listrak’s existing email builder, especially the need for HTML coding, which most marketers find challenging.
In response, we partnered with Listrak to create a fully custom, no-code email builder featuring a three-part interface: content blocks on the left, a central design canvas, and a configuration panel on the right. This familiar layout gives users precise control over columns and blocks, delivering the design freedom they want without complexity.

Customization rooted in every detail
We introduced the Item Editor, a unique feature giving users full control over how products appear in emails, delivering a level of customization unmatched by any competitor.


Driving conversions with hyper-personalized content
The updated email builder supports dynamic product recommendations, delivering personalized content tailored to each recipient’s behavior—significantly boosting marketing effectiveness.
Powered by customizable “Recipes,” products are curated based on factors like color, price, browsing history, and past purchases.

Dynamic content & conditional logic
We embedded conditional logic across the platform, enabling dynamic personalization using data like contact names, product images, prices, and locations.
To make this accessible for all marketers, we introduced an intuitive tagging system that delivers advanced personalization without added complexity.
