Business Development Manager

We have a small but mighty team of designers and strategists passionate about solving complex problems.

 

Summary:

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to identify and help develop strategic relationships with potential clients and partners. You will oversee business development initiatives and guide them from the opportunity lead phase through the contract phase. Specific tasks include developing proposal and pitch materials, developing internal marketing materials, and maintaining communications with prospective clients. An ability to multitask and prioritize is critical to the success of this role. You will work on a wide range of initiatives, sometimes at the same time, so strong organizational skills and an ability to quickly shift gears and hit the ground running is important. You will work under general supervision from the Director of Client Services, and frequently collaborate with as well as lead others to produce concepts and proposals.

 

Responsibilities:

The Business Development Manager will be integral to our pitch process, including assessing initial opportunities, collaborating with key internal stakeholders on pitch deliverables, interfacing with prospective clients, and creating written RFP responses. They will work closely with the Director of Client Services and design teams to develop proposal and pitch materials, including case studies, initial POVs on prospective clients' businesses, strategic presentations, and written components of a proposal. The Business Development Manager will also write blog posts and articles to showcase industry leadership and open new channels with prospective clients.

What we’d like to see:

  • Experience working in a digital agency environment (ideally in business development, client services, or strategy).

  • A comprehensive understanding of client business goals and strategic imperatives and ability to help the pitch team develop strategic deliverables including written and creative assignments that represent the client's needs.

  • Experience creating written business development proposals and marketing materials.

  • Expertise in business, finance, or marketing with experience in the field or a related area.

  • The ability to actively manage relationships with prospective clients from initial conversation to closing a contract.

  • Ability to create and deliver presentation-quality documents in a variety of mediums (InDesign, Keynote, Powerpoint, Google Slides)

  • Ability to effectively meet time-sensitive proposal deadlines

  • Passion for digital and desire to keep up with the latest digital trends.

 

Bonus Points:

  • General knowledge of user experience (UX) design, user interface (UI) design, and the creative design process

  • Working knowledge of the Silicon Valley technology industry and competitive landscape 

  • A strong writing portfolio (blogs, articles, marketing materials, reports, etc.)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field
